At IFA 2013, Samsung has finally announced the much expected Galaxy Gear series, introducing the very first smartwatch from the series which will be simply called Galaxy Gear. It will be available starting September 25 but will initially only work with Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1.

Samsung has announced that the company will eventually release software updates which will make the Galaxy Gear compatible with the Galaxy S4, Galaxy III and the Galaxy Note II. Seems like the company is not interested in supporting its much affordable devices in the market.
This Samsung smartwatch is equipped with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 320×320 pixels. It further includes a 1.9 megapixel camera with a BSI sensor, it is equipped with auto-focus and is capable of recording videos at 720p. The device is powered by an 800MHz processor and includes 512MB of RAM along with 4GB of storage space.
The Galaxy Gear can be connected to your Samsung smartphone to get notifications for calls, texts, emails and other alerts. It also offers previews of messages allowing users to accept or ignore them simply by using the smartwatch. The Samsung Galaxy Gear is equipped with a 315 mAh non-removable battery which lasts for about a day.

The smartwatch also comes with two built-in mics and a speaker allowing users to answer or make calls. It connects over Bluetooth and also supports third-party applications. Samsung has worked with about 70 third-party apps to support Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear will come in sic different colors including – Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold and Lime Green. Samsung has not announced the price for the device.
